6-month-old girl dead from burn injuries; police investigate death as homicide

A 6-month-old girl is dead and police are investigating her death as a homicide after officers say she died after suffering burn injuries at a home in Southeast, D.C.

Detectives say the incident happened around 6 p.m. on September 5 in the 1900 block of Valley Terrance.

Officers responded and found the infant, identified as Brooklynn Zakiyaa Hill-Davis of Northwest, D.C., suffering from burns. She was transported to a nearby hospital but later died. Police say she died from "complications of thermal injuries."

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered by police.
