3 women whose remains were found in DC are homicide victims, police say

- Three women whose remains were discovered in a shallow grave and crawl space in the District were homicide victims, officials announced Friday.

DC police along with the medical examiner announced two of the victims suffered from gunshot wounds and the other suffered from trauma.

The skeletal remains were discovered by construction workers at an apartment building on Wayne Place in Southeast D.C. on April 25.

Investigators have been working to determine the identities of the victims since their discovery. DC police said they were combing through missing person reports and coordinating with the family members of missing people to gather DNA to check to see if there is a match.

Detectives said they were working to confirm whether the three deaths are in fact associated. Officials confirmed some clothing was recovered from the scene, but would not go into detail about the clothing due to their ongoing investigation.

Authorities said they believed the bodies have been there for at least a year, but were unsure how far back the remains could’ve been there.

Police also announced that since the cases have officially been ruled homicides, a reward of $25,000 for each of the three cases was being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
