3 Tuscarora High School students charged in locker room sexual assault incident, police say

- Three Tuscarora High School students have been charged with a sexual assault incident that occurred inside a school locker room earlier this month, authorities say.

The students are accused of assaulting an underclassman on the school’s football team on Oct. 1 after regular school hours, according to Leesburg police.

Officials say two of the students charged in this case are 17 years old while the other is a 16-year-old. One has been charged with sexual battery while the other two have been charged with assault and battery.

“Detectives with the Leesburg Police Department began investigating the circumstances surrounding the assaults in conjunction with Loudoun County Public School officials and staff, parents, and the Loudoun Commonwealth’s Attorney,” the police department said in a release. “After a thorough investigation and a review of the findings with the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, it was determined that the allegations did not meet the criteria of hazing as defined in the Virginia State Code.”

Leesburg police began their investigation after school officials say they became aware of the alleged incident on Oct. 5. Loudoun County Public Schools said previously that all of the individuals involved are members of the football team.

FOX 5 was told that a video was posted online showing the alleged assault. However, police would not confirm that.
