3 charged in Montgomery County gun shop break-in; police ID suspect who died

Montgomery County police have arrested three suspects in connection with a Rockville gun shop break-in, and identified an additional suspect who was killed during the incident.

The suspects in custody include 21-year-old Terrance Massey Jr. of Anne Arundel County - along with a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old who are also from Anne Arundel County.

They also identified a suspect who was found shot to death following the robbery - 17-year-old Marquis Weems of Anne Arundel County.

Police responded to the scene around 2:39 a.m. and discovered a white SUV.

When an officer got out of his vehicle, the SUV moved forward toward him, striking his vehicle.

The officer - who police have now identified as 20-year-old veteran John Gloss - fired his weapon at the vehicle.

The SUV was found disabled about a quarter mile from the scene. Weems was found dead within the vehicle. His alleged accomplices had fled.

They are asking for the public's help in identifying an additional suspect who they say helped rob the store.

Gloss has been placed on administrative leave pending review per department guidelines.

Police have recovered 17 guns. They are still looking for 10 additional guns.

They have also linked the break-in to a similar gun-store burglary in Howard County.
