2 workers injured during scaffolding collapse

Crews are investigating after D.C. Fire says two workers were hurt during a scaffolding collapse in McPherson Square.

D.C. Fire and EMS say a scaffolding collapse happened just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, at the 1400 block of I Street NW.

Crews say the scaffolding collapse caused two male workers to fall.

The scaffolding was coming from the third level at the Franklin Tower when two people fell. There was another scaffolding above the third floor but it remains intact.

Investigators say the two workers were transported to the hospital with potentially serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The alleyway where the incident occurred remains closed while crews investigative.
