2 teens charged with attempted murder after shooting of Oxon Hill High School student

- Two teenagers were arrested in connection with the shooting of a Prince George’s County student outside of his school on Monday, officials say.

Police have charged 17-year-old Zanaya Bryant and 18-year-old Anthony Hollingsworth, both of Clinton, with attempted murder and other related charges. Both suspects have been charged as adults.

Police say the 17-year-old male victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body after being shot inside of a vehicle in the parking lot of Oxon Hill High School at around 5:15 p.m. Monday. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released several hours later.

According to investigators, the victim got into an SUV with the suspects before he was shot inside of the vehicle. The victim was able to get out of the SUV and get help afterwards.

Police say Bryant and the victim were acquaintances and robbery may be a motive for the shooting.

“What happened yesterday at Oxon Hill High School is a product of acquaintances coming together and having a dispute,” said Prince George’s County Police Chief Hank Stawinski. “We have seen that last year. We have seen that in other places. It happened after school, outside of school, at the periphery of a parking lot. But those individuals were known to one another. We have made two arrests already. We are currently looking for a third person.”

The victim’s mother talked with the school’s principal and said that her son was eager to return to class.
