2 Prince George's County officers arrested in Florida

Two off-duty Prince George's County police officers were arrested in Florida over the weekend in two separate incidents, according to officials.

Authorities said Officer Charles Williams was arrested in Miami Beach after police said he pulled out his badge and attempted to get to a woman who was being detained by police. According to the police report, Williams the woman was being detained following a fight and Williams ignored commands to step away and leave the area. Williams then took an aggressive fighting stance, staggering his feet and balling up his fists before he was taken to the ground and handcuffed, according to police.

The other officer, Steven Pascal, was arrested at Miami International Airport on his way back from Mexico. Officials said Pascal was taken into custody on a warrant for assault and reckless endangerment after his girlfriend filed a domestic assault complaint with Anne Arundel County police on Wednesday while Pascal was in Mexico.

Jail records show Pascal was still in custody in Florida.

Prince George's County police said both officers, who are assigned to the patrol bureau, would be suspended when they return to Maryland.

Neither Williams or Pascal could be reached for comment.
