Arrest made after 2-year-old boy dies in DC, police say

An arrest has been made after a toddler died in the District, according to police.

Authorities said they responded to an apartment in the 3400 block of A Street in Southeast D.C. at about 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday.

A police report states that officers arrived at the scene and found the victim, identified as 2-year-old Aceyson Aizim Ahmad, unresponsive and with multiple injuries to the upper body. Aceyson was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to officials.

An autopsy revealed Aceyson died from blunt force trauma, police stated. Authorities said 24-year-old James Embre, of Southeast D.C., was arrested and charged with first-degree felony murder.

Police said Embre was the boyfriend of Aceyson's mother.

Witnesses told FOX 5's Paul Wagner that the mother of the child was seen running up and down the street in her underwear screaming that her baby was burned. Officials said there was no evidence of burns on the child.
