PITTSBURGH - A former DeMatha High School football player has died after plunging 16 stories from a building in Pittsburgh.
Marquis Brown – who was a junior at Duquesne University – jumped from a window in Brottier Hall Thursday night after police arrived at the building in response to a reported disturbance, according to the school.
Duquesne officials said Brown was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he died.
Authorities are investigating the incident, but said no foul play is suspected.
Brown’s former coach at DeMatha tweeted that Brown’s family is mourning his loss.
Officials at Duquesne said the school is providing grief counselors to students affected by the tragedy.
The school is planning a memorial service for Sunday evening.
