"Empire" star Jussie Smollett sings for Good Day DC

Two of the most dynamic stars of the FOX hit show "Empire" visited D.C. on Sunday to greet fans and sign copies of the new "Empire" CD at Union Station. Jussie Smollett (Jamal) and Bryshere Gray (Hakeem) also sat down with FOX 5's Maureen Umeh to dish about the show. Smollett even sang for us!

The guys told us they are still in awe of the success of the show and the new levels of fame it keeps reaching.

"For me, I was broke. You know, I was trying to make my way. I just got signed. I was a struggling underground artist… And it was like, I don't know. But I know it's better than that situation. It changed my life," said Gray.

"They sent me a script and I instantly fell in love with Jamal. And I jumped on Instagram and I direct messaged Lee Daniels—and I said, I know you get this a lot, but I'm a singer, a dancer, a songwriter, an actor and a musician. I'm Jamal Lyon," said Smollett.

Now that season one has wrapped, we asked the guys if there is anything they can share about season two.

"Just that season two will probably make season one look like the Brady Bunch," said Smollett.

"20 million, 20 times on top of that. You notice every episode evolved and got better, more juicier," said Gray.
