New app for Trump supporters wants to 'Make America Date Again'

Some single supporters of President Donald Trump say they are having a rough time on the dating scene. But now there's an app for that.

A new dating app launched on Monday called Donald Daters. Its motto is "make America date again" and it promises "no bias, judgment or liberal intolerance."

FOX 5 spoke to users about why they joined. A man named Joe from California says that he would meet women on other dating apps, but often on the first date, politics would come up.

"Literally didn't matter if I had cured cancer for the whole world or if I was the best-looking man on the planet, these ladies turned into hardcore Trump-hating people and needless to say, we didn't see each other again because it was a dealbreaker for them," he said.

He's not alone. A survey done in 2016 found more than 70 percent of people polled said political differences are a dating dealbreaker.

A Donald Dater user named Shalom says just a few years ago, he didn't find that people cared so much about political opinions.

"It just shocks me that people aren't willing to listen to each other anymore," he said. "So might as well just look for someone with the same set of ethics, morals and common sense."

He says he would absolutely be open to dating someone who wasn't a Trump fan.

"This is just the first dating app I have ever tried, so I saw it out today and was like, 'I might as well check it out,'" he said.

FOX 5 only found a few people from the D.C. region on the app, but it is still brand new. It's free to join, but to fully utilize it, there are fees.

There was an issue soon after the launch on Monday. A security researcher says he found security issues with it that made it possible to download the entire user database - names, locations, profile pictures, private messages and access that would make it possible for someone to take over your account.

We reached out to Donald Daters to get a response to these claims and see if they are fixing the issues, but have not heard back from them as of Monday night.
