Dave Chappelle, John Oliver shoutouts at Emmys get #DCPublicSchools trending on Twitter

Comedian and D.C. native Dave Chappelle, and late-night host John Oliver, gave shoutouts to D.C. Public Schools during the Emmy Awards Sunday night that got the school system's hashtag trending.

Chappelle was making a joke about skipping rehearsal and having to rely on the teleprompter. "Now I'm gonna read this teleprompter, please forgive me. Shoutout to D.C. Public Schools, here we go," he said to laughs.

Later in the show, comedian John Oliver added to fun by giving the District's school system another high profile shoutout.

"Like Dave Chappelle, I would like to unexpectedly thank D.C. Public Schools because I think it would be great to get it started trending on Twitter for no reason tonight whatsoever. So if you're tweeting about the Emmys at home, please use the hashtag #DCPublicSchools," he said.
