Boy hospitalized after early morning shooting in Northwest DC

WASHINGTON - A boy has been hospitalized after police say he was shot in Northwest D.C. The shooting happened around 5 a.m. in the 5900 block of 13th Street.

Police say they responded to the area after hearing the sound of rapid gunshots. They were flagged down by a vehicle with the wounded boy inside.

Officers followed the vehicle to Children's Hospital where the gunshot victim was identified as juvenile Hispanic male. He suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the right foot. Police have not released the age of the shooting victim.
