Arrest made in shooting death of 16-year-old girl in the District

WASHINGTON - An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old girl who was shot in the head Thursday in Northeast, D.C.

Police arrested 18-year-old Dekale Bowman on Monday. He is being charged with second degree murder in the in the fatal shooting of Taiyania Thompson.

Investigators say Thompson was shot inside of an apartment in the 1000 block of Mt. Olivet Road, Northeast at about 3:10 p.m. Thursday According to officials, the teen was unconscious and not breathing when crews arrived at the scene. Thompson was hospitalized and died from her injuries on Sunday.
