Dying dog looking for furever family to help him work on bucket list

- Smoke is a good boy who is up for adoption at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. While he does have terminal cancer -- he still has lots of life in him and needs someone to help him work on his bucket list!

The 10-year-old hound was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and so the AWLA says Smoke has a bucket list to check off while he's still here. FOX 5 helped him achieve one of his bucket list items by making an appearance on TV!

While he wasn't so ready for his TV debut, he did enjoy getting pets from the Good Day crew -- especially Steve Chenevey.

Still, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington said it’s uncertain exactly how much time he has to left.

“We don’t know how long Smoke has left with us - it could be six months, or it could be just a few weeks. What we do know is that Smoke deserves to live the rest of the time he has left in a home with a family that loves him,” the AWLA said on Facebook. “We are hoping that someone will come and adopt this big, goofy boy and give him as much love as they can during his last weeks and months.”

Smoke also got to ride in a fire truck with Arlington Fire and also got to enjoy a cheeseburger!

While Smoke's first priority is having a family to spend time with in his last days, his bucket list includes:

- Find a forever family

- Go on a hike

- Eat ice cream

- Go to the beach

- Have a birthday party

- Ride in a fire truck

- Eat a cheeseburger

- Have breakfast in bed

- Meet a celebrity

- Ride in a police car and bay with the sirens

- Get a full-body doggie massage

- Go camping

- Meet Santa

- Be on TV

- Jump in a big pile of leaves

- Get a professional photo shoot

- Go on a road trip

- Get his own Instagram account

- Ride in a convertible

- Get a huge box of toys to play with and share with his shelter friends!

- Visit Washington Nationals Park (maybe throw the first pitch?)

The AWLA said Smoke went to a visit a potential foster home over the weekend and anyone who would like to help Smoke fulfill his bucket list is encouraged to email mail@awla.org.
