He’s only 5, but Kaheem has already proven he’s a fighter. He’s still battling leukemia, but today, this Maryland boy lived out his wildest dreams.
With some help from “The Superhero Council,” Kaheem’s wish to be a superhero is came true. FOX 5 DC partnered with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic to make it happen—and we’ve got plenty of help from around the nation’s capital area.
With the help of local law enforcement, “Super Kaheem” felt like a real superhero, and he spent the day fighting bad guys of all kinds on an adventure that took him across the city. At each stop along the way, Kaheem had a mission, and used his new superhero powers to help in the fight for good.
At 8:30 a.m. he was asked to help save D.C., see his adorable reaction below:
At 9:00 a.m. Kaheem arrived to the FOX 5 station on a Montgomery County fire truck, he came inside and was greeted by his favorite superheros and our FOX 5 talent.
At 9:45 a.m. Kaheem started to make his way to National Harbor where Santa wass STUCK on the Ferris Wheel and needed Kaheem to save him.
At 10:45 a.m. Kaheem completed MISSION #1! He saved Santa from the National Harbor Ferris Wheel with Tucker as his sidekick! Watch it all unfold below:
From the Nation Harbor he headed to the US Capitol, and received a special message from Speaker Paul Ryan. Watch below:
Since all superheros need a little down time, Kaheem took a nap, but was then energized to head out on his next mission - to capture the Grinch and stop him from stealing all the presents at the National Theater!
Kaheem's FINAL mission ended at the Newseum where he rescued the D.C. sports mascots from the second floor balcony! Thank you Kaheem for saving D.C.!
He had a busy schedule—but thank you for following along live! All day long we had Kaheem on FOX 5 News Morning, Good Day DC and FOX 5 News at 5. We also stream Kaheem’s special day live on fox5dc.com, the FOX 5 DC app, and the FOX 5 DC Facebook page - so be sure to go check out the posts if you missed them while they were live!
You can also follow along on social media, and post about his adventure using the hashtag #KaheemSavesDC to spread the word about this special little boy’s magical adventure. We’ll be posting about it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat!
Kaheem’s incredible day wouldn’t be possible without these law enforcement agencies: Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services, Prince George’s County Fire & EMS, DC Fire and EMS, United States Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police Department.
Thanks to all of these agencies for donating their time to make a little boy’s dream come true.
