Electronic News Gathering (ENG) Editor (Full-Time, Regular)

Maintenance Technician (Full-Time, 2 openings)
Duties include: troubleshooting digital and IP broadcast electronic equipment to the component level in cameras, routers, switchers, microwave, transmitters, and associated terminal equipment. Maintenance and repair of technical equipment, installation of new equipment, and support of plant operations. Maintain studio and field cameras, media servers, digital audio consoles, Production and Master Control automation, and Chyron graphic systems. The successful candidate must be a problem solver who will be responsible for both corrective and scheduled preventive maintenance on television equipment, including P2 equipment, switchers, ENG equipment, servers, transmitters, as well as computers, network, and telecom equipment. Component level electronic troubleshooting skills as well as exceptional IT skills are required. Must have an understanding of computers and microprocessors as they apply to broadcasting equipment. Current, relevant experience with digital video compression/encoding techniques, ATSC /MPEG transmission, and Bitcentral Newsroom is a definite plus. UHF IOT transmitter experience is also preferred.
Qualifications: Applicant must have 6 years of broadcast maintenance experience, or a combination of experience and education from an accredited electronics school or college with a relevant degree. Must be able to lift and carry forty-five (45) pounds and with equipment, traverse walking distances, up and down stairs, and rough terrain, to complete essential job functions. WTTG is seeking an individual for an immediate opportunity as a Writer/Producer. Individual will write and produce compelling segments for both television and digital platforms. Will be responsible for setting up live interviews, producing news segments, pitching stories, and actively engaged in daily news gathering. The individual will be responsible for writing accurate copy for multiple platforms, including website and social media. Also responsible for coordinating daily and future coverage with the executive producers, assignment desk, planners, and reporters. May be called upon to field produce or write for other newscasts. Will create graphics and edit video for air and live newscasts during breaking news. Website and social media responsibilities include produce original, engaging content for our station’s digital platforms, including our website, mobile apps and social media pages. Identify, write and publish stories that are compelling to a digital audience. Update breaking news, create photo galleries, upload videos, stream live breaking news events and consistently engage users on social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Constantly monitor social media platforms and respond to the station’s social audience. Other duties as deemed appropriate to be assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required. The candidate must possess a minimum three years’ experience as a television newscast or segment producer in a medium to major market. Candidate must have strong news judgment, good writing skills, knowledge of current events and excellent communication and people skills. Some of our newscasts are produced using the Sony ELC automation system, and some newscasts are punched manually. The ideal candidate will be strong in both situations. Experience as a director in an automated environment is a plus. Duties include operating Sony ELC automation, Sony MV8000 video switcher, SSL audio C100 and C10 audio consoles, Chyron Camio/ISQ system, Chyron Mosaic and PowerClips and Vinten robotic cameras. The Technician/Newscast Technical Director may be called upon to fill a variety of production roles for our newscasts and prep material for air on our two stations. Other roles may include, audio board operator, character generator operator, robotic camera operator, floor director and MC. Qualifications: HS Diploma (or equivalent) required. Fill a variety of production roles for our newscasts and prep material for air on our two stations. Roles may include, technical director, audio board operator, character generator operator, robotic camera operator and floor director. Also master control commercial and program prep. May also operate master control during live sports and at other times. Operate Sony ELC automation and Sony MV8000 video switcher. Operate Sony MV8000 video switcher in manual mode (w/o ELC control). Operate SSL audio C100 and C10 audio console and all associated audio equipment. Operate Chyron Camio/ISQ system, controlling Chyron Mosaic and PowerClips servers. Operate Vinten robotic cameras. Floor direct and provide cues to talent in the studio. Use iNews computer and Sony ELC playlist viewer. Use Miranda iTX master control system to prepare programming and commercial content for air. Edit the iTX playlist as needed to add, delete and adjust programming and commercial segments for air. Operate iTX during live programming, including sports, to trigger commercial breaks on cue and adjust for programming which is over or under the programmed length.
