ELC Director (Per Diem, Part-Time)

Fox 5 WTTG News, Washington DC the #1 News Station and most hours of local news is looking for an experienced and creative newscast director to join its production team. We utilize a fully automated control room to produce over 12 hours of live news daily.  The ideal candidate will have experience with a production automation system, preferably Sony ELC. Knowledge of the Sony 8000 switcher, ChyronHego tools (Camio, Axis & Luci), robotic cameras and iNews are a plus. Additional duties may include directing weekly political and sports shows, promos, satellite interviews and pre-produced segments.

Qualifications: HS Diploma (or equivalent) required. Financial Analyst (Full-Time)

Duties include: Cash application, collections, maintaining aging, and other A/R functions. Journal entry preparation, account reconciliation/analysis, financial reporting, forecasting, fixed assets, budget preparation. Ad-hoc reporting, tracking, and analysis to support the business. Freelance Writer (Part-Time)

Fox 5 WTTG News, Washington DC the #1 News Station and most hours of local news is looking for a news writer to write VO and VO/SOT packages for assigned news programs. The writer will assist the producers in the preparation of the newscast, selecting stories and assigning production personnel. The writer will assist with story development and select file and feed video.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field and two years prior news writing or producing experience is required. Major market news experience is preferred. Ability to work well under strict deadlines, and the ability to work flexible hours and shifts is essential. Proven creative writing and interpersonal skills are also required. News Producer (Full-Time)

Selects stories, assembles them in a rundown, creates graphics, writes and copy edits the stories and coordinates Reporter presentation. Responsible for taking the show into the control room and timing it to include commercial breaks. Participate in the editorial process that leads to story assignments. Occasionally, produces content in the field and long-form stories. Other duties as deemed appropriate and assigned. Strong communication skills and the ability to develop and assemble content. News Reporter (Full-Time)

Planning Editor/Writer (Regular, Full-Time)

Fox TV, Washington DC, the #1 News Station with the most hours of local news is looking for a Planning Editor to plan segments, news coverage and produce content for all newscasts. Work closely with executive producers, producers, reporters and anchors to ensure that segments and stories are enterprised and accommodated in newscasts. Daily duties include researching story ideas, booking guests, conducting interviews, and producing stories, segments and producing up the screen for all newscasts.  You will also meet daily with News Managers for next day preview and the planning of future segments. Understand the logistics of the assignment desk and the needs of a newscast through a producer’s eyes.  Work with web site in developing stories, segments and projects to work in conjunction with newscasts. Responsible for gathering story info from various news sources and determining the newsworthiness. Make decisions on what stories to cover that will be timely, news worthy and break news on our broadcast and digital platforms. Have the ability to alter segments as news breaks and changes. Keep news staff apprised of breaking news and changes in assignments. . Assist field crews in story development/completion; this includes, but is not limited to, providing directions to a location, providing contact information for a story, providing background information on a story, making preliminary calls to set-up a story. Communicate story developments to producers, field crews and managers Communicate with affiliates to ensure continuity in coverage. Coordinate coverage of special events. Develop and maintain professional relationships with sources.  This includes, but is not limited to Public Information Officers, corporate spokespersons and public relations personnel.  Stay informed on current events, journalistic practices and changing industry trends.

Qualifications: 4-year college degree in broadcast journalism or other related field. Previous assignment desk and/or producing experience preferred. Must be well organized and able to manage multiple projects. Must demonstrate outstanding news judgment and good news writing skills. Must be able to deal effectively with people. Must be able to work well in a fast-paced environment. Working knowledge of newsroom computers and the internet. Must be able to work overtime, varied hours including weekend, holidays. Senior Promotion Producer (Regular, Full-Time)

Fox 5 WTTG News, Washington DC the #1 News Station and most hours of local news is seeking a seasoned creative services producer to conceptualize, write and produce dynamic promotional spots that reinforce and expand our stations brand and image. The qualified candidate must work effectively within specific time constraints with producers, department management, newsroom and station personnel in a fast-paced, large market environment. The senior promotion producer is an essential team member in the Creative Services Department. The individual should have a proven track record for overseeing and leading projects from concept to completion with an emphasis on producing topical & image campaigns across a variety of platforms. Create, develop and produce the on-air look for WTTG/WDCA. This may include writing and producing all Image campaigns, station IDs, news topical promos, digital/online promotional ads and content, radio ads, cable and outside media, custom syndicated show and block promos, end-panels and lower third graphics, VO tags, operate or have a working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and the entire Adobe Creative Suite. Work with Promotion Manager and VP of Creative Services to develop and execute overall.

Qualifications: The Ideal candidate must have strong creative writing and communication skills, creative ability to develop campaigns that will cut through the clutter. Minimum 2 years broadcast experience (or equivalent work experience) in a top 50 market, 4-year college degree in broadcasting, communications or marketing. Studio Technician  (Freelance)

Fox 5 WTTG News, Washington DC the #1 News Station and most hours of local news is looking for a Freelance Studio Technician. Fill a variety of production roles for our newscasts and prep material for air on our two stations. Roles may include, technical director, audio board operator, character generator operator, robotic camera operator and floor director. Also, master control commercial and program prep. May also operate master control during live sports and at other times. Operate Sony ELC automation and Sony MV8000 video switcher. Operate Sony MV8000 video switcher in manual mode (w/o ELC control). Operate SSL audio C100 and C10 audio console and all associated audio equipment. Operate Chyron Camio/ISQ system, controlling Chyron Mosaic and PowerClips servers. Operate Vinten robotic cameras. Floor direct and provide cues to talent in the studio. Use iNews computer and Sony ELC playlist viewer. Use Miranda iTX master control system to prepare programming and commercial content for air. Edit the iTX playlist as needed to add, delete and adjust programming and commercial segments for air. Operate iTX during live programming, including sports, to trigger commercial breaks on cue and adjust for programming which is over or under the program length.

Qualifications: Work professionally as part of a cohesive team within specific time constraints.  HS diploma or equivalent required, college pref. One year recent commercial TV experience required. The ideal candidate will have all of the skills and experience listed above, but we will consider applicants who have strong abilities in some or most of these skills. WTTG/WDCA is a 24x7 operation.
