Tucker Barnes
Hey, my name is Tucker Barnes, and I am the Emmy award-winning chief meteorologist on FOX 5 Morning and Good Day DC each day. I was raised in the Washington area.
My passion for the weather began at an early age when, at the age of 5, I began issuing forecasts to my kindergarten class. By my teens, I was immersed in my favorite subject, offering often highly-inaccurate, long-range forecasts to my high school class.
I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and completed my graduate work at the University of Maryland, College Park. I am a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS).
I love this area of the country and its seasons. The challenges of forecasting in this region are nearly unmatched. Among my proudest achievements at FOX 5: Covering Hurricane Irene in Ocean City (in the seafoam), the winter of Snowmaggedeon and the Derecho of 2012.
In my spare time, I enjoy nature, the weather (of course), gardening, animals, football and making fun of Steelers fans (Unless you are a Steelers fan — then I like making fun of Cowboy fans).
