Light the Night: Reston

The annual Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk kicked off in Reston on Friday as people impacted by blood cancers rallied to help find a cure.

The walk is the first of three in the area, as the other two will be held at in Rockville, Maryland and at the National Mall in the District. The events raise money to help find a cure for blood cancers and help generate somewhere in the ballpark of $3 million.

"This has been a long time coming. We've been doing these events for 12 years," Bill Hughes said. "Back in the day when Andrew was little, there were people raising funds that led to the success back at that point in time and now it's our job to carry that forward and continue raising funding for research."
