A man in a wheelchair was struck by a Metro train after he apparently wheeled himself onto the tracks intentionally Thursday night.

D.C. Fire and EMS said the victim was struck at the Minnesota Ave station in Northeast D.C. at around 8:34 p.m.

The victim was alert and conscious when he was rescued from the tracks and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

Orange Line trains were single tracking between the Stadium-Armory and Cheverly station after the incident.
