Search for missing person after fire

One person is unaccounted for after a three-alarm blaze at a home in Northern Virginia.

One person remains unaccounted for and a firefighter was treated for a minor injury after a three-alarm fire tore through a row of townhomes in Sterling early Friday morning.

Fire damages townhomes

The blaze broke out just after 1 a.m. in the 20000 block of Riptide Square. When crews arrived, two homes were fully engulfed in flames and a third had been damaged. Firefighters brought the fire under control within an hour.

Loudoun townhomes hit by early 3-alarm fire

An early morning 3-alarm fire spread through several townhomes in Loudoun County Friday.

Resident missing

Eight residents were displaced and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. Utility crews from Washington Gas and Dominion Energy are working to restore service, and residents may experience temporary disruptions to gas and electricity.

The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office and Sheriff’s Office remain on scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
