WASHINGTON - We hope your streets have finally been plowed and your driveway and sidewalks have been shoveled. But the FOX 5 Weather Team is warning residents in the DMV to watch for black ice as widespread refreezing will be likely Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Temperatures in the D.C. area will drop into the teens and 20s and any water or slush on untreated roadways or pavement will likely turn to ice starting as early as this evening. Drivers should take extra caution on the roads as icy spots could develop.
Sunshine is expected for the early part of Thursday as cloudy skies will develop in the afternoon. Scattered showers could pop up in areas south and east of Washington D.C. Temperatures should reach a high in the low 40s on Thursday and Friday.
A weather front could bring flurries on Friday morning, but the cold air should exit later on in the day and a huge warmup is on tap for the weekend. A lot of melting will happen as temperatures will rise into the 50s and 60s on Saturday and Sunday.
