Heavy rain and storms made for hazardous early morning commute

- Heavy rain and storms made for a hazardous early morning commute Friday in many parts of the D.C. area. Storms began pushing into the region in the overnight hours with the heaviest rain falling across the D.C. area around 9 a.m.

Thunder Storm Warnings and Flood Warnings were issued for parts of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

FOX 5's Bob Barnard was on the scene along westbound Klingle Road at Adams Mill Road where a large tree fell across the roadway. Officers responded and placed road flares closing a portion of the road. He was also on the scene where a woman was rescued from her vehicle on a flooded roadway in Fairfax County after becoming stranded in high water.

The weekend will be much cooler with temperatures in the 60s. Scattered showers will be in the area on Saturday afternoon. Cloudy with some sun is expected for Sunday.
