The FOX 5 Weather is continuing to track the potentially historic snowstorm that will arrive Friday.

On Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a Blizzard Warning for parts of D.C., Maryland and Virginia. It will be in effect from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning.

We're less than 24 hours away! Sue Palka FOX 5 DC and Mike Thomas Fox 5 break down the latest models for the big snowstorm.

"The most intense part of the storm will come Saturday morning from around 4 a.m. through 12 p.m. We can expect heavy snow - possibly 2 inches per hour - and blizzard conditions with 30 to 35 mph winds creating legitimate white out conditions," said FOX 5's Gary McGrady.

These heavy winds could lead to possible power outages for some during this storm.

For other portions of the Mid-Atlantic region, a Winter Storm Warning will be in effect from Friday morning through Sunday morning.

The FOX 5 Weather Team has been following the latest models as the D.C. metro area appears to be close to the bullseye of this monster storm as accumulation between 20 to 30 inches of snow could fall for parts of the region.

The latest models are showing that snow will arrive in our area as early at 1 p.m. Friday and will increase in intensity through the night into Saturday. The heaviest of the snowfall is expected Saturday morning. The snow should taper off after midnight into early Sunday morning.

Stay with the FOX 5 Weather Team for updates on the path, timing and snowfall accumulations as the storm moves closer to the D.C. region.
