Flash Flood Watch for DC region canceled

- After a beautiful weekend, showers made for a soggy start to the work-week Monday.

The rain took aim at the Metro region beginning before sunrise and lasting into the morning rush-hour commute.

The precipitation picked up in intensity into the afternoon. The heavy rain passed and the National Weather Service announced a Flash Flood Watch was canceled at about 4:25 p.m.

While the Flash Flood Watch was canceled, there was severe storm damage reported in Wicomico County, Maryland. Salisbury police report a possible tornado may have hit the area and photos from the scene showed flipped cars and extensive damage to buildings.

The National Weather Service based out of Wakefield, Virginia was scheduled to survey the storm damage Tuesday morning.
