NFL monitoring Joaquin forecast ahead of Eagles-Redskins game

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- The NFL is keeping tabs on the potential for heavy rain that could affect the Philadelphia Eagles' game at the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

Steady rain drenched much of the East Coast on Wednesday, and it could get stronger in parts of Virginia and Maryland in the coming days.

The Redskins' home stadium is in Landover, Md.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy says Wednesday that the league is "closely monitoring the forecast and speaking with both teams."
