Homecoming for 'Final Five' Olympian Simone Biles

- Olympic Games multiple medal winner Simone Biles has returned to the Houston area and residents are showing their support in a multitude of ways. U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Houston Mayor Sylvester Tuner, Biles' family and friends all made statements welcoming the gymnast home.

It’s hard to put into words just how exciting it is to welcome home one of the best athletes the world has ever seen.

“I, Sylvester Turner,  Mayor of the City of Houston, proclaim August 24, 2016 as Simone Biles Day in the City of Houston.”

Four gold medals and one bronze later, U.S. Olympian Simone Biles has returned home. She is one of only four women in Olympic history to accomplish what she did. Naturally, the City of Houston has given her her own day.

“Hi guys, I'm Simone Biles and I can't thank everyone enough in all of Houston for coming out to see me today and to welcome me from Rio,” said Biles. “And I don't know what else to say, I'm nervous and I love you guys.”

Biles may not have known what to say, but her coach certainly did.

“She is and probably can be labeled as the best ever now," said Aimee Boorman, U.S. Women’s National Team coach.

Boorman also said Biles has always had something special.

“I think everybody has always been attracted to her because of her personality,” explained Boorman. “She's really getting the recognition of all the hard work she's put in her whole life.”

Biles said she will join the 'Final Five' on the Kellogg's Tour of Champions. It’s a tour of thirty-six cities throughout the U.S. including Houston.
