Woman injured in DC drive-by shooting dies; vehicle of interest video released

A woman who was injured during a drive-by shooting in D.C. that also left three others wounded has died.

The shooting happened Wednesday around 11 a.m. at the intersection of 16th and U streets in the Anacostia area of Southeast D.C.

At the time of the shooting, D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser were less than a mile away addressing the homicide investigation of a 14-year-old boy who was killed over the weekend in a nearby neighborhood.

Newsham said that police believe a shooter opened fire from inside a vehicle and struck the victims who were standing outside of a corner store. In addition to the woman who was shot, police say two men were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and a fourth victim arrived at a nearby hospital with a graze wound.

At this time no arrests have been made. Police have released video of the vehicle of interest connected to the shootings.
