Woman hurt when truck crashes through apartment door in Md.

ELKRIDGE, Md. (AP) -- Police say an unlicensed driver crashed a pickup truck through the sliding glass door of an apartment in Elkridge, injuring a woman inside.

Howard County police say the collision occurred around 9:30 Sunday morning. Police say 40-year-old Mynor Monterroso was trying to back the truck out of a covered parking space but kept hitting a support pole. Then he drove forward and through the sliding-glass door, hitting 40-year-old Marilyn Schmeits.

Police say Schmeits was flown to a trauma center, where her condition was stable.

Monterroso faces charges including negligent driving and driving without a license. Police say he left the scene briefly to get help but returned shortly after officers arrived.
