Violent night leaves 2 dead, several shot in parts of DC, Maryland

A violent night in the District and in Maryland left two people dead from gunshot wounds and several others injured.

D.C. police say a man was shot and killed on Galveston Street in the Southwest at around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Detectives are looking for an unidentified adult male, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, in connection with the killing.

About an hour later, Prince George's County police say a man was shot and killed in the 2500 block of Darel Drive in Suitland. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Officers say no suspects have been identified at this time.

District police say they responded to five other shooting incidents beginning late Tuesday night and continuing into the early morning hours Wednesday. Those shootings happened in the Northwest, Southwest and in the Southeast. They also are investigating a Wednesday morning stabbing in the Northwest.

No suspects have been identified in any of the incidents.

At this time investigators cannot say if any of the incidents were connected.
