Unpaid traffic and parking tickets cost DC millions

Deadbeat drivers are costing D.C. some big bucks.

Some people have refused to pay more than $55 million in fines for parking, automated traffic cameras and moving violation citations during fiscal year 2014.

They also didn't pay $266 million owed for similar tickets from the past 3 budget years.

Basically, between 20 percent to 30 percent of the tickets go unpaid and uncollected.

The problem is causing some budgetary shortfalls in the city.

Be warned, that ignoring an unpaid tickets can result in car booting, towing, loss of license..

For some, it can mean an arrest and an increase in insurance premiums.
