Truck driver dead after electrocuted when vehicle made contact with power lines

Police have identified the truck driver who was killed after being electrocuted when his vehicle made contact with power lines Thursday morning in Lorton.

47-year-old Bobby Blevins, Jr. was found unconscious on the side of the road near Mordor Drive and Furnace Road around 6 a.m. Paramedics who were providing him medical attention noticed that the metal arm of the extended truck cover appeared to be in contact with the overhead wires along the roadway.

Blevins, Jr. was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

It is unclear why the truck cover was being extended. The incident is still under investigation.
