Elf on the Shelf makes return to homes and social media

The Elf on the Shelf has returned to many homes for the lead up to Christmas.

If you're not familiar with the story of the Elf on the Shelf, it has become a Christmas tradition in many homes where the elves serve as Santa Claus' scouts. They are sent to be his eyes and ears at children's homes around the world between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve while also managing his naughty and nice lists and report back to the North Pole daily.

A family adopts an elf at a retailer and then the elf shows up in different places of the house each morning. The kids can't touch the elf or he will lose his magic. They can talk to the elf, but he can't talk back.

That elf can get very silly sometimes when it comes to where he hides and he definitely gets creative.

There is also an Elf on the Shelf movie and you can even buy clothing and other accessories for your elf.

Over the years, the elf has become a social media sensation. You can find many people sharing funny pictures of where their elf has appeared in their home.
