FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS, Md. - A morning track fire along the Red Line caused early delays when trains were forced to single track between Medical Center and Friendship Heights. The fire activity was reported around 5 a.m. Fire crews investigating believed an arcing insulator was to blame.
Unscheduled track work also caused delays along the Red Line tracks Friday morning.
These incidents come as emergency maintenance crews continue their work on the Blue and Yellow Lines as part the SafeTrack plan. Modified service between Reagan National Airport and Braddock Road will continue until July 12.
