A Star Wars fan with terminal cancer has died after the director of the new film fulfilled his final wish and allowed him to see an early release of the movie.
Daniel Fleetwood’s death was announced on Facebook Monday.
Fleetwood, a huge fan of the Star Wars franchise, and his family reached out online to the stars and producers of the new movie, The Force Awakens, using the hashtag #ForceForDaniel.
Last week, J.J. Abrams, the film’s director, arranged a special viewing at Fleetwood’s home.
Ashley Fleetwood posted this message along with this photo online. She said:
Daniel put up an amazing fight to the very end. He is now one with God and with the force. He passed in his sleep and in peace. He will always be my idol and my hero. Please hug uncle Marc for me and give Lucy lots of kisses. Rest in peace my love. This was the last selfie we ever took together. #forcefordaniel
