Tennessee store owner hangs up sign in window refusing service to same-sex couples

WASHBURN, Tenn. - A store owner in eastern Tennessee is sticking to his beliefs and refusing service to same-sex couples.

Jeff Amyx, owner of Amyx Hardware and Roofing Supplies, says he doesn't agree with the lifestyle of today's lesbian, gay and transgender community and simply doesn't want them in his store.

"Homosexuals stand boldly for what they believe. Why can't I stand boldly for what I believe?" he said.

Amyx says their lifestyle goes against his religious beliefs and that those customers should find somewhere else to spend their money.

Not everyone in the small town is happy about the sign.

The store owner, who's also a Baptist minister, says he feels he has to stand up for his beliefs and that he has no intention of taking down the sign.
