Teen rescued from lake in Fairfax County

Fire officials say a teenager has been rescued from a lake in Fairfax County.

Authorities say the 16-year-old boy was stranded in the middle of the lake located off of Lakepointe Drive in Burke after sliding down a snow-covered hill at a dam in the area. The boy went onto the ice, which gave way underneath him and he fell into the water.

The teenager was able to swim to a drain pipe near the dam where fire and rescue personnel were able to rescue him by boat.

Update on teenage male in the lake. Crews have brought him safely to shore and he is doing well.

The victim was treated briefly in an ambulance, but he did not have to be taken to a hospital.
