Suspect wanted in fatal shooting at Prince George's County 7-Eleven

Police in Prince George's County are asking for the public's help finding the suspect in the fatal shooting of a convenience store clerk on Saturday morning.

The shooting happened at a 7-Eleven store in the 9700 block of Brandywine Road in Clinton just before 5 a.m. Police said 31-year-old Taiwo Oduwole was shot and later died after what appears to be an attempted robbery.

Family told FOX5 that Oduwole had only moved to the U.S. from Africa three months ago. He was living with friends in Upper Marlboro.

Despite being in the area such a short time, it was clear Oduwole made an impact on his customers.

"I'm just thankful that I knew who he was, and that God has given me the gift that he would come across my path," said Phyllis Boone. "Because he was such a genuine, kind person."

Boone said she was devastated Oduwole was so senselessly killed.

"He cared about the community, he cared about the kids here," she said. "Some kids would even come into the store, to be honest, and they would take stuff. And he would just tell them, 'Look you don't have to take it, I will pay for it for you before I even allow you to walk out of the store.'"

"He was very intelligent," said Kashanique Dunkley, another customer. "He was working on his master's degree. He said that he was just working here to help him pay for his education. I'm lost for words. I can't believe this happened to him."

Detectives believe the same man who killed Oduwole robbed a nearby Comfort Inn in the 7900 block of Malcolm Road.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
