Suspect injured in police-involved shooting in Crofton

CROFTON, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County police shot a 21-year-old man inside a home in Crofton after the man pointed a gun at an officer.

Police say the shooting occurred just after 1 p.m. on the 1700 block of Chamberlain Court in Crofton on Saturday.

Police say family members of the suspect called police because they were concerned that he would hurt himself. Police say when they entered the home the man confronted the officers with a rifle. Police say he refused to drop the gun, and one officer fired a single shot, striking the man in the chest.

Police say the man was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, and no officers were injured.
