Study finds children have 40% less allergies in families that wash dishes by hand

A new study finds kids in families where dishes are washed by hand have less allergies.

It's in the current issue of "Pediatrics" and shows that children in households that do not use dish-washers are 40 percent less likely to develop allergies.

Scientists in Sweden say the study suggests that exposing kids to microbes early in life helps stimulate their immune systems and washing-dishes by hand may be just as important as having a pet in the house in reducing allergies.
