Starbucks takes on issue of race

Starbucks is tackling the issue of race in America.

This week, baristas at 12,000 Starbucks locations will try to spark conversations with customers on the topic of race.

They'll be doing this by writing two words on customer cups -- "race together".

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz says he's is on a mission to encourage Starbucks customers and employees to discuss race, under the firm belief that it's a critical first step toward confronting - and solving - racial issues as a nation.

Schultz told Starbucks employees that when customers ask about the "race together" wording on cups, they should try to engage in positive discussions about ways to better race relations.
