Severe Thunderstorm and Flash Flood Watches issued for DC area

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 1 a.m. for a majority of the D.C. region.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect through late Tuesday night as thunderstorms pass through our area. These slow-moving storms could produce heavy rainfall of one to two inches an hour and could result in flash flooding.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation and you should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
