Several rescued from apartment fire in southeast DC

Several people have been rescued from an apartment fire in southeast D.C. Emergency crews say the fire started around 7:50 a.m. on the 2900 block of 2nd Street.

Firefighters say three people were pulled from the apartment building. Two boys, ages five and twelve, and a woman were hospitalized for observation. A teen jumped from an upper floor window but was not injured. A firefighter was hospitalized with burns to her hand. All injuries are considered non-life-threatening.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
