2 seriously injured in DC-area crash involving USPS truck

Emergency crews remain on the scene of a serious accident in Montgomery County which involved a United States Postal Service tractor trailer and an SUV.

The accident happened around 11 p.m. Sunday along Cherry Hill Road near FDA Boulevard in Silver Spring.

Two people were trapped inside of the SUV and had to be rescued, officials say. Both victims were transported to area hospitals with life-threatening injuries.

Police say there are several road closures in the area of Cherry Hill Road near Orchard Center. A hazmat crew has also been called to the scene after fuel spilled from the tractor trailer.
