Salt, snow cause manhole explosions in Brooklyn

NEW YORK - Manhole covers shot into the air in New York injuring several firefighters.

A mix of salt and snow seeped into underground electrical wires causing two separate manhole explosions in Brooklyn Thursday.

Police say three firefighters were rushed to an area hospital after responding to manhole fires.

One of the firefighters was reportedly hit by a cover that blew off.

All three are in stable condition.

The two explosions were two of the fourteen manhole fires in Brooklyn Thursday night.
