Principal kisses pig in effort to get her students to read

A Virginia principal hogged a little of the limelight on St. Patrick's Day in an effort to get her students to read.

Oak Grove Elementary principal Kim Bradshaw kissed Daisy, the potbelly pig, during an assembly as an incentive to the kids.

Farmer Minor brought daisy to the school and told stories to second, fourth, and fifth graders about what it was like to raise her.

He travels around the country to encourage children to "Pig Out On Reading."

"Watching the excitement level of these children, having ready so many thousands of books so their principal could kiss that pig," said Minor.

"Hahaha there was a little slobber, but not too much," Bradshaw said.

The students had to log thousands of hours of reading for daisy to come visit.

The assembly program featured all sorts of books about pigs.
