Presidential candidates take selfies just like everyone else

WASHINGTON - It seems just about everyone has taken at least one selfie, and the 2016 presidential hopefuls are no exception.

Appearing on "Ellen," Hillary Clinton talked about the time Kim Kardashian asked to take a selfie with her. Clinton was raving about Kardashian's phone case, which actually has lights around it to help take even better selfies.

And maybe you've heard about the 'presidential selfie' girls. They are taking the campaign trail by storm with the goal of taking selfies with every 2016 candidate, a task made even more monumental by how many candidates are in the running.

Love them or hate them, what is it about taking a selfie with a politician that has so many trying to grab one?

"The selfie is the new political memorabilia. It's a political souvenir. So where in the past, if you followed candidates on the trail, you might collect buttons," said political strategist Mindy Finn. "The selfie is like the new button, but even better because it features you with that candidate."

Of course, selfies don't come without some controversy. You may remember when President Obama took a selfie at Nelson Mandela's memorial service in South Africa. At the time, many said it was an inappropriate time for selfies.
