COLLEGE PARK, Md. - A man murdered his wife then traveled to his son’s school where he shot and killed the student before turning the gun on himself.
The incident was uncovered Wednesday night around 10:30 p.m. when police responded to the Parkside apartments in College Park. Officers say when they arrived they found two men with gunshot wounds inside of a vehicle in the parking lot.
The men, identified as 57-year-old Nasir Siddique, who was retired from the army, and his son, 19-year-old Farhad Siddique, were both pronounced dead on the scene. Farhad, who was a junior at the University of Maryland and lived at the Parkside apartments, had been reported missing earlier in the day.
Police believe Nasir shot and killed his wife at their Bel Air, Maryland home before traveling to Prince George’s County where he shot and killed his son. Investigators then say Nasir turned the gun on himself. Police may have an idea about the motive because the gunmen left a note at the scene of the first murder, but it’s not a motive they’re ready to share - because it’s early on in the investigation.
“When we arrived on scene we found them both suffered from gunshot wounds. The victim was in passenger side of jeep and the suspect in the driver's side of jeep. A hand gun was recovered from hand and lap of the suspect,” said Capt. Brian Riley.
Nasir Siddique and his wife have another child together, a daughter who is away at out of state medical school.
Authorities in both Harford County and Prince George's County are investigating the incident.
