Political roundup: What made headlines the week ending February 7

Folk albums, GOP dropouts and presidential slip-ups all made headlines in politics this week.

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was in the spotlight for a 1987 folk album he recorded called "We Shall Overcome."

The five-song album, which can be found on Amazon, surfaced this week and generally drew praise from supporters. One Amazon review commended the songs for showing that Sanders was "real" and "hasn't changed in all these years."

One negative comment? Sanders is not a particularly talented singer and instead speaks over the musical tracks.

The Republican party was also in the news this week, as three candidates dropped out of the race following poll results from the Iowa caucuses.

Rich Santorum and Rand Paul both dropped out on February 3. Mike Huckabee called it quits two days earlier, thanking voters for all their "loyal support."

The Republican field now has nine candidates remaining.

Finally, daughter of presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton made an embarrassing slip-up on February 3 when she referred to her mother's competitor for the Democratic nomination as "President Sanders."

Clinton was speaking to her mother's supporters in Minnesota when she made the mistake. She recovered quickly, though, saying "I hope not 'President' Sanders!" with an eye-roll.
