Police: Woman faces charges after stealing birthday cake from grocery store

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - A woman faces charges after police say she stole a birthday cake from an Annapolis grocery store.

The incident happened Saturday at a Giant store on Bay Ridge Road.

Officers say a 26-year-old woman, identified as Krystal Green, and her juvenile son entered the store and placed a birthday cake in their shopping cart.

Investigators say the boy stood near the exit of the store with the cart while Green waited in line at a register.

After a short period of time, officers say the boy exited the store without paying for the cake and with Green exiting closely behind him.

Officers quickly confronted Green and placed her under arrest. She faces charges.

The birthday cake was valued at $35.99.
